What is available?
ALFSS anticipates awarding approximately $5,000 in
scholarships during the 2010-2011 academic year.
- Three ALFSS scholars will be selected for $1,000 scholarships
- One $1,000 J.C. Robinson memorial scholarship will be awarded
(preferably to a student majoring in history).
- One $1,000 Scholarship from the LEAD (Latino Education and Advocacy Day) committee
ALFSS affirms the multiculturalism of CSUSB and invites students of all ethnicities to apply.
What are the requirements?
Maintain a competitive grade point average. The
determination of a competitive GPA will be based on
the applicant pool.
Be a full-time undergraduate, credential or graduate
student enrolled at CSUSB during the 2010-2011
academic year.
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is not required.
Scholarship recipients will have the following requirements:

1. Undergraduate students will need to maintain full-time enrollment and a cumulative 3.0 GPA. Post Baccalaureate students will need to maintain half-time enrollment and a cumulative 3.0 GPA during the year they receive the scholarship.

2. Will receive honorary ALFSS membership for a year.

3. Will be required to complete community service requirement to at least one ALFSS sponsored event.
How to apply for a scholarship:
The ALFSS Scholarship application can be accesses using the 2010-11 CSUSB Scholarship Application available on-line via MyCoyote.
- 1. Applicants may log into the MyCoyote portal using their CoyoteID and password.

2. Click on the "Apply Scholarship Online" link under the Student Self-Service section to begin the application.
3. The application system requires that you check the box that states "Interested in Latino Culture"
The brief autobiographical statement should reflect:
a. The applicant’s involvement and contributions to the Latino community in which you live or work.
b. Include information such as honors and awards, employment or volunteer experience, education, and career goals.
c. Why the applicant merits recognition as an ALFSS scholar.
d. Address any extenuating circumstances.
